AT&T U-verse App For Those Who Aren't AT&T Wireless Customers
Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 9:30AM
If you use AT&T U-verse at home for your cable consumption needs, you may have heard that AT&T released an Android version of their popular iPhone app which allows for controlling of your DVR functions remotely. Unfortunately, the app has only been available to those who have AT&T for their wireless provider as well. However, thanks to a user over at XDA-Forums, a hacked version of the app is now out in the wild for non-AT&T customers that have U-verse. Links and screen shots after the jump.
The U-verse Android app provides many of the features of it's iPhone counterpart, including browsing the program guide, scheduling recordings, and even downloading recordings for playback on your phone (if your U-Verse plan includes that option). However, it's missing the ability to change the channel you are currently watching on your TV, which, from what I understand, the iPhone app can do.
The app works well, and is logically laid out. If you are trying to schedule a recording to happen several days from now, it's actually easier to do it from the app than attempting it via your remote control and set top box. I did not run in to any issues with it via my EVO 4G. However, I did not try the video playback functionality.
If you are interested in taking it for a spin, follow the link below to the official thread over at XDA Developers.
