Sprint Pushing Froyo to Samsung Intercept
Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11:52AM
Just saw this come across the Twitter wires. Sprint and Google are pushing out Froyo for those of you that have the Samsung Intercept, including my 12-year-old. Here's a copy of the press release from Sprint. You might want to note the comment about this update being pushed from Google, so it may be released in waves (i.e. everyone won't get it at once), presumably to prevent server overload.
Samsung Intercept Maintenance Release - Android 2.2 (DL05)
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Android 2.2 Froyo
- Sprint Navigation
- Dropped calls after unacknowledged call waiting
- Force Close message when opening up contacts
Important Notes:
-The software version is: S:M910.05.S.DL05
-The build version is: Froyo.DL05
-Access the Samsung Intercept Maintenance Releases blog here for install instructions
Update: This release is pushed from Google and may be released in waves, so you may not see it on your device immediately.
Instructions on checking for software updates after the jump.
If you want to manually check your Intercept to see if the update is available to you, here's how:
1. From the Home screen, press Menu
2. Tap Settings
3. Flick down on the screen to scroll down; tap About Phone
4. Tap System updates > Update Firmware or Update Android
5. The device will check for updates
6. Follow instructions to install the update
No word on whether this will enable live wallpapers on the device, though my son is anxiously hoping that it will. If you get the update, give us a shout out in the comments section and let us know how it goes for you.
