Here in the U.S. we're coming up on Labor Day Weekend. It's basically a nice little three day weekend that gives us one last chance to blow off some summer steam before fall and winter begins to set in. It's a weekend for having friends over, cooking outside on a grill, taking road trips, and general merriment. With that in mind, we bring you this special edition of Free Apps Friday with recommendations an apps to help enhance your weekend pleasure.
Target
Where else are you going to buy supplies for the weekend? Yeah, we're talking about the chain department store that is a high-end Wal-Mart. They released a pretty well done app this week that allows you to browse merchandise, view ads, locate stores, and the ever-present barcode scanning option. The only qualm with the app is that it redirects you to their mobile website to place orders.
GasBuddy
Going on a weekend roadtrip? This little jewel will determine your location via GPS and then tell you where the closest and cheapest gas is relative to your position.
Favorite Recipes
Not sure what you're going to cook once all your friends show up at your house this weekend? This app will help you out. Search across thousands of recipes from the database and find something that sounds good.
Fantasy Guru
Football American style is upon us. Spend a few minutes this weekend getting your Yahoo fantasy team together and going with this app. This version includes a lot more features than the official Yahoo version.
My Beer Droid
Want to keep track of how many beers you've had? Here's the app to do it with. This is useful to make sure you're keeping yourself in check, but also when it comes time to pay for the check when you're out with a group. You can even include how much each beer costs so you have a good idea what your portion of the tab is going to be.
