One of the really nice things about working from home is that my morning commute consists of avoiding toys left lying around by my 2 year old son. However, life was not always so grand. When I used to work in an office in Atlanta, traffic jams and the associated frustration (and severe road rage) were part of my daily routine.
For those of you that still fight through the morning jungle or afternoon gauntlet of rush hour traffic, some help has arrived thanks to Google Navigation. More details and the complete blog post from Google after the break.
Google has updated the routing algorythms that Navigation uses to plot your course so they now take in to account current and historical traffic patterns. The nice part is there is nothing for you to do different. Simply put in your destination as normal and Navigation will automatically factor in traffic when calculating the shortest route for you to take.
I can only imagine the amount of frustration this would have saved me a couple of years ago!
