Droid Inc Update Breaks UnrEVOked Root, Download VCast App Store Here

We're seeing reports that the latest over-the-air update for the Droid Incredible patches the exploit that UnrEVOked uses to gain root access on the DInc.  Of course, you have the option of not installing the update, which which is usually the right choice when your phone is rooted.

If however, you were looking forward to getting your hands on the Vcast app store, we've got you covered.  You can download the .APK for just VCast here.

In the mean time, just hang tight because I'm sure the UnrEVOked team will be pouncing on this latest OTA update as soon as possible to extend root access to it.

On the other hand, if you are still waiting for the update because Verizon hasn't rolled it out to you yet, you can also manually download it and flash it to your device.  Instructions on manually updating your phone are included after the break.

Galaxy Tab Pricing and Plan Comparisons (Sprint, T-Mo, and VZW)

Not to be left behind, Sprint has opened up online pre-orders for the Galaxy Tab to Sprint Premier customers (those with accounts in good-standing and a monthly plan of at least $69.99, or have been a customer for 10+ years).  You can check out the pre-order site here.  Pricing is $399.99 after instant rebate with a two year contract.  As an added bonus, Sprint is throwing in a $50 gift card for movie rentals from Samsung's Media Hub service.

So now that we know what the pricing and plans are for three of the four major carriers, how do these plans stack up against each other?  I've put together an updated grid that quickly runs the numbers for you.  Not included in this is AT&T since we don't have confirmed pricing from them yet (just a rumor that the device itself will be around $649.00).  We'll spell out the details after the break.

Verizon Launches Galaxy Tab, No Price Break for Contracts

The Galaxy Tab comes to Verizon today, and the pricing, is, well.... odd. For the low, low price of $599, whether you get a contract or not, the awesomeness that is the Galaxy Tab can be yours.  Want to add some data to your package? Plans start at $20/mo on a month to month contract for 1GB of data usage.  The nice thing about it is that you don't have to sell your soul for two years.  Plans with additional data are available.

For those of you that are interested, I've put together a small comparison of the Verizon vs. T-Mobile plans after the break.

Verizon Brings Out LTE 4G Plans - Sprint Brings Out the Claws

In case you haven't heard, Verizon made a big announcement today regarding their plans for rolling out LTE (Long Term Evolution), also known as their 4G network.  It's an impressive list of 38 cities that will be turned up by the end of the year, along with some 62 airports that will be equipped.  Verizon highlighted some of their initial markets for 4G during their press conference today, and I, though not a Verizon customer, and excited that they've included major cities in Ohio.

Meanwhile, Sprint has already fired back a response to Verizon's announcement via Twitter with some not-so-shy comments.

Details of Verizon's plan, including their map, along with Sprint's response after the break.
